One of my favorite components about going to a public high school physically was the fact that I could dress up for school. I definitely took advantage of Canyon Crest Academy’s famous “no dress code” and used my clothing as a means to express myself. Dressing up for school was an essential part of my daily routine, and played a huge part in keeping me motivated to complete schoolwork.
Attending school online is strange enough as it is, and losing the motivation to dress up for school certainly plays a part in that. It’s so simple to just dress in pajamas everyday, but where is the fun in that? I’m not saying you should wake up hours before school just to get ready. However, there are certain tricks to keeping yourself motivated in online school by continuing your daily routine.
Personally, I believe that the best way to start your day is by washing your face, as doing so allows for a refreshing splash of cold water to wake you up. By continuing to wash your face in the morning, even before online school, you are practicing good habits that will make it easier for you to be motivated for the rest of your day. Practicing the same routine that you used before quarantine will also help to give online schooling a more school-like experience.
Picking an outfit for online school is an essential part of keeping your motivation for school. It doesn’t have to be a very thought-out outfit, but it should be an outfit that makes you feel good about yourself and your appearance. I know that when I look good, I feel good, and when I feel good, I become more motivated and confident in my ability to do schoolwork.
Continuing your regular morning routine is critical, and keeping it will help normalize your online school experience and make you feel better about yourself. Little things such as washing your face and dressing up will make your online school experience more representative of a normal school experience.
